Master Plan for Air Line State Park Trial Region
For a nature lover and avid and daily trail user, it was a thrill to be able to design the Master Plan for an extensive trail system in eastern Connecticut. The Air Line State Park Trail is a unique, linear state park that spans 64 miles and crosses through 12 towns in rural Connecticut. Planners worked for five years on this vision to revitalize the trail and integrate it with communities along the trail region. Not only does the trail offer a terrific recreation corridor for people enjoying the outdoors — walkers, bicyclists, runners, horse riders and Nordic skiers — it’s a great way to connect them with businesses along the way.
The Connecticut Resource Conservation and Development Area, a long-time client, contacted Mad River Creative about designing the extensive report along with the companion Executive Summary. With natural themes of blue and green, and many photos of the beauties of the trail, it was easy to show its attractions.
The project was a partnership between the Connecticut Resource Conservation and Development Area, and the Air Line Trail, Connecticut Department of Energy and Environment, and Connecticut Greenways.
